Not effective against acne, certain treatment products can actually make skin irritated or even make acne worse. For this reason, it is important to know what is safe to use and what should be avoided.

Don’t touch pimples by hand

Skin specialist from New York, Charlotte Birnbaum said that the best way to treat acne is not to touch it.

“Don’t squeeze pimples,” Birnbaum told Insider. “This will aggravate acne because the bacteria in the hand go into zits and it will encourage bacteria to develop more in zits. Also, trauma from squeezing zits will cause scarring and need expensive nurses to fix it.”

in extreme ways some people squeeze pimples or acne. This action will only cause further problems. Squeezing zits will only suppress the pore blockage to the deeper part of the skin, causing acne scars. Squeezing zits will only make the healing process last longer.

Use the acne medication directly at the location of the zit which will stop the zits and eventually get smaller. Hands should be as minimal as possible touching a pimpled face, because oil from the hands can clog pores which will only aggravate acne.

Essential oils will not make difference

Essential oils may be known to cure, but the Tennessee skin doctor Carley Fowler declined that wasn’t the most choice.

“Essential oils are actually just oil. Oil clogs the pores and can aggravate acne. Essential oils can also trigger allergic reactions,” Fowler said. Fowler added that the use of tea tree oil which was once popular could also irritate and aggravate acne. “If you want to apply the product to acne, it’s better that the dermatologist approves it,” he said.

As describe above oil like in your hand can clog pores which only aggravate acne.

Toothpaste has more adverse effects than benefits

Toothpaste is an old trick inherited from generation to generation. “Put toothpaste on the pimples to dry the next day”. However, Susan Bard a dermatologist who lives in New York said that toothpaste can actually worsen acne. “This (toothpaste) can cause irritation or allergic contact dermatitis,” he said. Allergic contact dermatitis is an allergic reaction to a product, usually making the skin rash red and itchy. To avoid this, Bard recommends using over-the-counter acne treatment products on the market. “But use it as needed, no more than once or twice a day. Mostly applying acne breaker products can also cause damaged skin and the healing process will last longer,” he added.

Chemical Peels

Facials and chemical peels can help remove pimples, but the results do not appear immediately, otherwise your skin will appear more irritated for some time. Instead of doing facials when pimples appear, you better spend time every few weeks for facials regularly.

Disguising your pimples

Disguising your pimples using accessories such as a headband or hat causes heat and friction on your skin to make existing acne worse. In addition, this can also cause trapped dirt and sweat in the pores and cause new acne.
