Tonsil Surgery Techniques

tonsil surgeryTonsillectomy is done when it has become the last option to be taken for the benefit of future patients. Dr Agus Subagio, ENT specialist from RS Puri Indah explained that the actual tonsils have great benefits for the body, but there are conditions where it is currently suffering from tonsillitis, it benefits are not as great as the bad effects that will occur in the future and that this needs to be surgery.

there is two tehniquees in this surgery traditional and modern ones.

1. Mechanical Dissection

With this technique, the tonsils will lift first clamped and then cut. The effect, will cause bleeding and severe pain after postoperatively.

2. Techniques Guilottine
guilotineSurgery with this technique traditionally classified by using a knife cut. Stages are not complicated and can be quickly done. But the effects of the complications posed much greater. Gilottine technique is very rarely performed.

1. Mechanical Electrocautery

This technique uses energy with high temperatures reaching 400-600 degrees celsius. The resulting heat is too high and it is able to accelerate the process of appointment, but there will be a risk of damage to the tissue surrounding the tonsils have been removed.

2. Techniques Mikroderider

This technique uses a tool that can help the bleeding could be aspirated quickly. His appointment was made by rotating the tonsils with a tool is still classified as very expensive. Therefore it is very rare to find a hospital in Indonesia that use this tool tonsillectomy.

3. Mechanical Radio frequency

This technique is relatively advanced and widely recommended to be applied in each hospital. This technique uses energy with low temperatures around 40-70 degrees Celsius only. Radiofrequency techniques such as the name suggests uses radio waves with a frequency of 1.5 to 4.5 MHz.

This technique has been introduced and widely adopted by hospitals in Indonesia. Dr. Agus added that with this frequency radio method will provide good comfort for the patient during surgery or even during the process of postoperative recovery.

Research carried out in various countries found that the application of radiofrequency technique has several advantages is compared to other techniques. Advantages of radiofrequency techniques are:
